Cosplay Wig Help

(THE BLOG THAT SHOULD BE LINKED ON HOMESTUCKCOSPLAYHELP SHOULD BE COSPLAYINGWIGS.TUMBLR.COM.
Homestuckcosplayhelp's ask is rarely open, and I'm unsure as to how to alert them to the fact that the original blog has changed URLs.
However, I've decided to take hold of this one and use it similarly. Feel free to ask about any character from any fandom!

Ugh, I’m sorry, guys!

I totally forgot to put on this blog that I’m on haitus for a week or two.
I’m affiliated with the school musical, and god it’s been busy- the play is this coming weekend.
Hellooooo, hell week.
People in theater will know exactly what I’m talking about.
So sorry, guys, I’ll be up and running after the play!

So short, yes?

If you’d prefer a darker blonde, that’s up to you! If you think you’d look ridiculous, here’s a few darker blondes- 1 2 3

On that note, here’s some lighter ones- 1 2 3

In the end, it’s really honestly up to you and how you think you’d look. I think you’d look fine in a lighter wig, so…

I’m glad I could help! <3

The Cosplayer’s Wig Styling Essentials

indulging-inaccuracy:

What goes into styling a wig?  In general, not much: creativity, a little bit of elbow grease, blood, sweat, tears… and the right tools.  The arsenal of a cosplayer who has wigs as their calling may seem a bit daunting at first glance, but in actuality it is composed of a few basics that you will use over and over again.  Look below the cut for the breakdown.

*EDIT* The previous version only listed up to wig caps, and once again Hanyaan saves the day by pointing this out.  Formatting has been fixed and the whole list should be displayed now.  Who knew three dashes could fuck formatting up so badly?

How about one of these?

1 2 3 <-That one may be a bit dark 4 <-That one would need to be straightened, but it looks like it’d be a good length.

knight-of-void asked: Thank you so much for the recommendations~ You guys are life savers :'D <3

Not a problem, so glad I could help! :D

Good luck in your cosplay endeavors, and this goes to all of my followers, as well! <3 <3

Some stores on eBay might accept credit or debt cards, but it kind of depends.

Arda only accepts Paypal, as well. :c

Unfortunately, I can’t suggest wigs for fem!John, as it’s kind of headcanon what kind of hair she’d have. Some like her with short, some with long, so…

But I can recommend for the rest of them!

Tavros: 1 2 3 4 <- That one’s actually a…

Just reblogging to say that I bought the number 4 wig listed for Tavros, and was very pleased with it.  I will say that the mohawk itself was slightly off-center, but after trimming, it wasn’t a problem.  Shipping was fast, quality was good, and it was fairly easy to style.

OH all the hair on the side DOES sort of point back instead of being fluffy.  I trimmed the sides down and it worked out alright.

Reblogging for reference for the asker!

Hmmm, I dunno about the website. It looks pretty legit, but you can never be too sure. Followers?

However, if the website turns out to be not-so-legit, here are some wig suggestions, anyway.

I also found this- It’s a little on the expensive side ($33), but it’s already cut and styled. These two (1 2) also look pretty good, as the seller’s ratings are close to 100% positive; They’re both also around $33, though.

It’s up to you if you want a cheaper one and style it yourself, or buy one already done and styled!
